#PLANETAFARIA is a series of participatory gatherings at Tabakalera (Medialab, San Sebastián) that combine talks on ecology, sustainable urbanism and science with an informal picnic-style format and open dialogue. It is an open space to learn, share ideas and enjoy conversations around urban ecology from a close, participatory perspective.
Public space and urban ecology as a starting point
On 6 March, Nagore Urrutia del Campo took part in a new session of the series, focused on public space and urban vitality.
The meeting brought together people interested in collectively reflecting on urban ecology in a participatory atmosphere. During the session, ideas, questions and different perspectives were shared on how common spaces are constructed and inhabited, highlighting the importance of creating environments that foster social interaction, diversity of uses and sustainability.
Whose night is it? Reflections on mobility and gender
Subsequently, on 17 April, Claudia Pennese led a new session of the series, this time focused on women’s night-time mobility under the question “Whose night is it?”.
During the meeting, attendees recognised themselves in many of the situations described, sharing personal experiences that reveal common patterns in perceptions of insecurity and in everyday strategies for navigating the city at night. This space for exchange not only made shared realities visible, but also helped to propose ideas aimed at moving towards safer and more inclusive urban environments.
