PROJECT

The project analyzes the socio-architectural elements of the Gipuzkoan type of housing, as well as how they are perceived by the elderly, in relation to two key elements: the possible systems to adapt the housing (new or existing) to foster their autonomy and be able to face the risk of loneliness.

The project will define, through a collaborative and theoretical-practical process, the bases to transform the physical space and create a design guide and catalog of architectural and technological solutions to mitigate loneliness and promote social inclusion. Also, the barriers and applicable regulatory fields will be detected and the results will be validated in pilot projects. The project seeks to make the results replicable at the regional and/or state level.

Date: October 2021 – June 2022

OBJECTIVE

The main objective of the project is to improve the quality of life of the elderly so that they can continue living in their homes for as long as possible. It addresses three points: prevent and mitigate lonely situations; increase functional autonomy and security and improve the digital divide for communication, relationships and social networks through the design of digital living environments.
