PROJECT
The project analyses the socio-architectural aspects of the Gipuzkoan housing typology, as well as how they are perceived by the elderly, in relation to two key elements: potential systems for adapting new or existing housing to foster autonomy and address the risk of loneliness.
Through a collaborative, theoretical–practical process, the project will establish the foundations for transforming physical spaces, creating a design guide and a catalogue of architectural and technological solutions to mitigate loneliness and promote social inclusion. In addition, barriers and applicable regulatory frameworks will be identified, and the results validated through pilot projects. The project aims to make its outcomes replicable at regional and/or national levels.
Date: October 2021 – June 2022
OBJECTIVE
The main objective of the project is to improve the quality of life of older adults, enabling them to continue living in their homes for as long as possible. The project focuses on three key aspects: preventing and mitigating loneliness; enhancing functional autonomy; and bridging the digital divide for communication, relationships, and social interaction through the design of digital living environments.
