PROJECT
The project analyzes the socio-architectural aspects of the Gipuzkoan type of housing, as well as how they are perceived by the elderly, in relation to two key elements: the possible systems for adapting the housing (whether new or existing) to foster their autonomy and address the risk of loneliness.
The project will define, through a collaborative and theoretical-practical process, the foundations for transforming the physical space and create a design guide and catalog of architectural and technological solutions to mitigate loneliness and promote social inclusion. Additionally, the barriers and applicable regulatory frameworks will be identified and the results will be validated in pilot projects. The project seeks to make the results replicable at the regional and/or national level.
Date: October 2021 – June 2022
OBJECTIVE
The main objective of the project is to improve the quality of life for the elderly enabling them to continue living in their homes for as long as possible. It addresses three points: prevent and mitigate loneliness; increasing functional autonomy, and bridging the digital divide for communication, relationships, and social networks through the design of digital living environments.
