The project continues the spirit of the original project’s (Etxelagun) initiative, which focuses on improving the quality of life of older adults in their domestic environment, but with a more concrete focus: the design and construction of the first ETXELAGUN home in Beasain. This home is conceived as a residence for longevity that prevents and mitigates the risk of loneliness, promoting autonomy and the active enjoyment of interior domestic space.

The research is carried out with a multidisciplinary and inter-institutional approach, combining expertise in architecture, gerontology, technology, and digital environment design, with the aim of creating a replicable housing model that integrates architectural, technological, and social solutions. The ETXELAGUN home is envisioned as a space that fosters a full and meaningful life, incorporates digital technologies to support communication, social interaction, and active participation, and enables the practical validation of innovative solutions for the inclusion and wellbeing of older adults.

Date: January 2025 – December 2025

The main objective of the project is to design the first ETXELAGUN home, a residence for longevity that prevents and mitigates the risk of loneliness for its occupants. The home aims to promote and stimulate a full life project, enhancing the active enjoyment of domestic interior spaces, autonomy, and integrating digital technologies to support these goals.
