PROJECT
LoTu_Cotidianeidad local y turismo. Method for Evaluating Correlations between Spatial Characteristics and Urban Dynamics.
This project is funded by the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council through the 2023 call of the Support Program for the Gipuzkoan Network of Science, Technology, and Innovation. The project aims to develop a method that links the physical parameters of the city with georeferenced social Big Data. This approach will enable the separate visualisation and analysis of local and tourist dynamics.
As in previous projects, the method is designed for municipal-scale analysis and is replicable in other contexts. In this case, the selected case study is Donostia–San Sebastián.
Date: September 2023 – October 2024
OBJECTIVE
The main objective of this proposal is to understand the relationship between urban human dynamics and the city’s physical and functional characteristics, with a particular focus on the existing conflict between local residents’ everyday use of space and the presence and activities of tourists.
