Academic background

PhD in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of Alghero (Italy, 2011), with the thesis titled A Decision Support Tool for Preliminary Design Oriented to Sustainability: A Relational Approach, supervised by Giovanni Maciocco. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental and Territorial Engineering from the University of Cagliari (Italy, 2004)

Teaching experience

He has been a lecturer at the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU) since 2015 and currently serves as an Associate Lecturer at the Bilbao School of Engineering, where he teaches the subject Installations and Thermal Machines. Additionally, he has taught the course Tools for Environmental Design within the Master’s in Research on Energy Efficiency and Sustainability and the University-accredited Master’s in Sustainable Construction and Energy Efficiency, both at UPV/EHU. He has supervised a total of nine Master’s theses.

Between 2005 and 2007, he was a full-time lecturer in the Department of Architecture at the University of Sassari (Faculty of Architecture of Alghero, Italy), where he taught courses related to construction and design.

Research experience

In 2009, he carried out a six-month research stay at the Group of Building Environmental Studies, led by Mattheos Santamouris, at the University of Athens, Greece. Later, between 2010 and 2011, he undertook a twelve-month research stay at the CAVIAR Research Group, led by Rufino Javier Hernández Minguillón, in the Department of Architecture at UPV/EHU.

Currently, he is a Contracted Researcher with a PhD in the project ETXELAGUN: Prototype Housing to Mitigate and Prevent Unwanted Loneliness. Previously, he participated in the project KALELAGUN: A Model for Transforming Public Outdoor Spaces to Mitigate Loneliness and Enhance the Well-being and Autonomy of Older People.

Professional experience

He has worked in various architectural studios and, since 2014, has been part of the consultancy firm South, specialising in energy efficiency and sustainability, where he develops landmark architectural projects with high environmental standards.
