Academic background

PhD Architect (2017, University of the Basque Country UPV / EHU), Master in Sustainable Construction and Energy Efficiency (2009, UPV/EHU), University Specialist in Sustainable Development and Local Agenda 21 (2010, UPV/EHU) and Master in Energy Efficiency and Sustainability in building and urban planning by the UPV/EHU (2011, UPV/EHU).

Teaching experience

Since 2010, she has been a lecturer in the Department of Architecture of the UPV/EHU, until 2020, in the Area of Construction and, currently, in the Area of Urban Planning. She has participated in the Master’s Degree in Sustainable Construction and Energy Efficiency of the UPV/EHU and in the postgraduate course Ekoliderrak, organized by Kutxa Ekogunea. She is currently teaching the subjects Sustainable Urban Development and Urban Environment in Master in Research in Energy Efficiency and Sustainability in Industry, Transport, Building and Urban Planning and the subject Project Development in Master in Architecture (UPV/EHU). In addition, she has participated in several Educational Innovation Projects, such as the ESAZU initiative, a conference and competition on participatory urban regeneration of vulnerable neighborhoods that has had 3 editions.

Research experience

Member of the research group CAVIAR, Quality of Life in Architecture (UPV/EHU) since 2009, and responsible for the research line Integrated Urban Regeneration.

She is currently principal researcher of a Project untitled RISAV: Riesgo para la salud de las viviendas (Risk to the health of dwellings), funded by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa. In turn, she is part of the research team in other projects of various European (Euskadi-Aquitaine and SUDOE), national (RETOS-MINECO) and regional (PUE) calls and several research contracts with companies and administration. It is worth mentioning the coordination of the Action Plan for the Dynamization and Implementation of the PCTI Euskadi 2020-2030 in the field of Sustainable Cities, for the Basque Government and directed by Rufino Hernández.

The dissemination of the results has been carried out through 11 scientific articles (8 in indexed journals), several book chapters and international conferences. She also participates in forums and expert groups such as the Lurraldeak-EuskalHiriak Cluster of EhuGune, Urban Habitat Steering Group of the Science, Technology and Innovation Plan, Euskadi 2020.

Professional experience

As a freelance professional, she collaborated with the Estudio de Arquitectura y UrbanismoAtarki S.L. in the drafting of architectural projects and construction management for 5 years (2004-09). Subsequently, she has developed several works linked to the study of the consolidated city and the policy of rehabilitation and urban regeneration of which highlights the Analysis of the degree of eco-efficiency in the rehabilitation actions of the Basque Autonomous Community (2012-14) and the Diagnosis of the needs of intervention in the building stock of the Basque Autonomous Community (2011-12), both for the Department of Housing, Public Works and Transport of the Basque Government.
